
Mission
The Ohio Association of Blacks in Higher Education (OABHE) is the premier organization for promoting community and advancing professional growth in higher education. OABHE is a statewide organization that consists of Black and African American faculty, staff, and administrators working to improve the landscape of higher education and the learning experiences for our students. This voluntary organization serves as a coalition for postsecondary professionals in Ohio to network and establish valuable partnerships across educational institutions.

OABHE’s vision is to protect the higher educational system in the state of Ohio and ensure it provides equitable opportunities and advancement while promoting a supporting environment for Black faculty, staff, administrators, and students.

The Ohio Association of Blacks in Higher Education (OABHE) is a premier professional organization dedicated to the recruitment, retention, and advancement of Black faculty, staff, and students within the state’s higher education system.

Objectives
- Establish a network to gather and share information about the role and status of African Americans in all aspects of Ohio education.
- Conduct conferences and workshops for educational training and the development of strategies to enhance the status of Black people in higher education.
- To stimulate interest in and raise awareness of current issues relevant to African Americans in higher education
- Promote a sense of social responsibility and cultural sensitivity to improve communication among Black faculty, staff and students.
- Identify issues and concerns, formulate and share recommendations, and implement strategies for change.
